Seamless- Fashion Documentary
I recently watched the fashion documentary Seamless the other night and I think it is a must see for any fashion obsessed person.
It follows the lives of three of the CFDA nominees and the process of how they determine the winning designer. The three designers they follow are the adorable Jack and Lazaro of Proenza Schouler, Doo-Ri Chung, and Alexandre Plokhov of Cloak. Also there are a ton of guest appearances from many, but specifically there is a cameo from Anna Wintour, who is one of the judges obviously since this award is established partly by Vogue. The great thing is that this documentary reveals how "non-Devil Wears Prada" she is. She is actually compassionate to the designers who are up for the award.
Anyways, I totally recommend this movie. Keep in mind that it is a documentary, so it is not the most action packed movie but it is very informative and fun to see the inside life of this process and the designers themselves. And it is free to watch instantly on Netflix right now, so why not watch it?
Enjoy.

Vintage Jewelry- eBay
I love eBay because it is like going vintage shopping in a small town, all in the comforts of your own home.
Hunting for vintage jewelry on eBay is a new favorite pastime of mine. Above are two recent purchases I bought, both of the items were less the $45 total (bracelet is from the 1940's!). I think the best thing about eBay when it comes to vintage jewelry is that there is a ton to choose from so the likelihood of a lot of bidders are slim. As long as you are patient enough to look through the vast assortment and you "watch" the item you like, you should be able to score a great piece.

Tribute to Michael Jackson's Style
I was on my way to Bourgeois Pig yesterday and passed by this little sunglasses shop. I told my friend, "Whoa doesn't that look like a Michael Jackson jacket?" When we took a closer look, the store had a sign that said "We'll remember your dancing and music." Underneath was a photo of literally him wearing the same jacket in the window. Could it be the real one he wore? Well probably not, but it was his style that influenced that one to be manufactured and I'm sure along with other millions of clothes.
Not only was he beyond genius for his talents in music and dance, he was iconic for his style. He was able to think of a very unique concept for a look and used that as an iconic element that branded him in a way. I mean who will ever look at a silver shiny sequin glove and not think of him? That's the power of style I guess.
p.s. At least he went looking sharp in all the Balmain he was wearing recently! Oh Michael, you were quite the legend.

Verification That Styling is Right for Me
I had a mini epiphany moment today.
I did a test shoot tonight all over the city, which was planned very last minute. It was to the point that I had literally only a few hours to get three looks together. Compiling all the outfits so last minute with very little prep work or time to really style, along with added stress from other things in my life made me feel like not going through with the shoot. But I ended up finishing just a few minutes ago and it felt great and it was just what I needed.
I think this can apply to everyone in terms of finding a career they love. Ask yourself, even through all the b.s. and crap do you still feel exhilarated at one point and a sense of accomplishment? Because face it, no job is perfect. There isn't a job out there where you don't feel tired or stressed but the only way it is all worth it is if you get that feeling of accomplishment or a good positive adrenaline rush.
Wow, clarity. I love it. Hope that clears things for you in your life because it sure as heck did for me.
p.s. Today is when legendary Michael Jackson died. Rest in peace.

Going Back to Cali
After three years in glorious Manhattan, I am going to be moving to sunny LA (hoping WeHo aka West Hollywood) in the next few months. And no, it is not because The Hills has inspired me to move.
Having experienced what I have in being a stylist, I know I want to go out to pursue it full-time and say goodbye to buying for corporate retail for now. Essentially freeing myself from the corporate world (buying is very corporate anywhere you go just fyi) and just taking the time to explore and be some sort of "starving artist" I guess you can say. As much as it would have been great to do this here in good old NYC, family support and cheaper rent is in California where I was born and raised.
I am very excited for this chapter in my life because I have never lived in LA before and I am stoked to see what it will bring. Luckily, I know I'm ready for this because I think I've done all that I wanted to and then some while living here. So in light of this, my upcoming posts will include all my favorite things about New York (much better recommendations than any tourist book that's for sure) and my upcoming journey to making it in something I love to do. Of course, I'll add random things like my picks from runways shows and things I just bought or wish I could buy, but how could I not?
I'm so ready to live the life I'm meant to be living and much thanks for joining me in this journey. I hope I can inspire anyone to just say eff it and follow what you are passionate about, whatever that may be.

Clinton Street Baking Company
After 3 years of living in New York, I finally managed to wait the hour long wait to eat at Clinton Street Baking Company. I am notorious for loving brunch, so this was an obvious must do on my to do list and the wait was totally worth it! Best thing ever is their warmed maple butter, it tastes good on everything (especially with their biscuits)! Everything seriously looks so good, especially their french toast and pancakes. The entrees look straight from a show on the Food Network or something!
If you have the patience and are in NYC, you should definitely stop by for some uber delicious food. A must go place when you're actually looking for good brunch food as opposed to just wanting to get trashed with mimosas.
4 Clinton Street (btw. East Houston & Stanton)
New York, NY 10002

Bon appetit!

The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion
The best part about the entire exhibit (besides the 1990's area for Chanel), was the end of it when you walk through the gift shop and you see all the real model comp cards hung on the wall! Photographed above are Agyness Deyn, Caroline Trentini, and Coco Rocha's comp card from their agencies.
Who even knew you even needed a comp card anymore when you are models like them? It was fun and definitely worth checking out!

Destructed Denim Shorts
Trust me, I'm not exactly an A&F kind of gal. No offense to it and all, but it is just not my thing. But I will say that I love going to these spots (Hollister, American Eagle, etc.) to get destructed denim shorts. It is affordable, cute, and they usually do a great job in terms of wash and destruction. So bravo to them for that at least!
